Message window display name?
Is there a way instead of it showing your complete email address to just have it show your first name?
That didn't work. Still displays my email address.
Made some adjustments and that appeared to work...

At the top of your friends list window click on Messenger then on My Contact Details. You can edit your real name and nickname there. Whatever you do not want to show leave blank
EDIT: ooops I read the question wrong, my fault.
If you mean how you appear on your outgoing email then all you need to do is go to your email page and in the upper right corner go to Options then to Mail options. On the next page go to General Preferences and at the top of the next page Put in the Name you want for outgoing email.

This name will appear on the From line of outgoing mail

Have you tried just putting your first name into the "to" section and the "send to addresses" in the "cc" or "bcc" section?
