I have a painful sore in the rear of my mouth, what can it be?

Hello, I have a painful sore on what appears to be my tonsils (right side), it started hurting a few days ago. Tuesday morning I woke up and it was hurting, however it wasn't hurting the night before. It still hurts today but is not accompanied by any other symptoms (fever, chills etc). When carefully looking into the back of my mouth with a mirror I can see in the area where it hurts the most there's a small white lump or pimple. I'm waiting til Monday to see my doctor but want to know what it could be. If there are any doctors or very knowledgeable people on here that can help me figure this out I'd really appreciate it.

It could be mouth herpes, the same virus that causes cold sores. If that is it, your doc can give you an anti-viral, along with painkillers. My friend had that once, the doctor just said that everyone has the herpes virus in their mouth. When your immune system is compromised, i.e. infection or cold or something, the herpes can get out of control and cause ulcers inside your mouth. He said it was one of the most painful conditions known to man, and put her on pretty heavy painkillers.
