Do you have Bipolar disorder?
if you do, How do you live with it? How has it affected your life? Any trouble with (or without) medication?
I was recently diagnosed. I have ultra rapid cycling and psychosis. I have been on Geodon and Depakote for 6 weeks now and I am still struggling with this. Notice that I am only 16 years old.
Can some of you share some of your stories living with this?

They will not tell me what iv got, all they say is I am suffering from psychosis and yet my medication is for Bipolar so I am abit confused I am on aripiprazole, risperidone, propranolol, fluoxetine and zolpidem and still feel terrible, there are seconds when I feel good but only for a few seconds then the darkness comes back, in fact I only feel good when I go shopping and at bed time but I do believe I will feel much better than this as Iv only been on medication for a couple of week.
Yes it is not uncommon these days for young adults like you to have
Bipolar but it is very sad to hear, I am 35 and confused some times.
Keep going never give up and remember there is all ways a brighter day.
All the best.

I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder just over a year ago. Before that, I spent 10 years w/ them prescribing me anti-depressants even thought I've never had a "down" day in my life, only extreme mania and anxiety. Since they put me on Lamictal, these have been the easiest times of my life. The key is to be VERY honest w/ your doctor about how you feel (no such thing as a negligible quirk) and follow their directions. Also key is regulating your sleep schedule and staying off of caffeine or too much sugar. I also have slightly "up" tendencies, but so far have only been given Klonopin to manage them. They might try Seroquel later. Without medication I'm a mess, though. I also medicate w/ medical marijuana (I have a prescription for your haters out there).

I used to be on lithium which worked really great, but it gave me a fine hand tremor and I was always thirsty and it started messing up my kidneys and thyroid so I had to discontinue it. I guess I live with it one day at a time. Right now my moods are exactly where they should be. Most of the time I am depressed and I was only manic with psychosis once. I take wellbutrin and risperdal and they work pretty good.
It really hasn't affected anyone around me as I don't have anger outbursts, but I mostly just spend alot of money and drive really fast and think I can invent a new energy source. So it mostly only affects me.

I'm 20 and I have Bipolar II and I'm on Lamictal. I can't say that life is any easier; in fact, it's harder because the more normal I act, the more normal people treat me and I hate it. It's constant ups and downs still, but because I see them and are now guilty about them, I now hate life. I don't like being this way at all and I wish people would just leave me alone again so I can go color. :(
But I hope that you're doing alright and if you need anything or just want to talk you can email me.
