All checked baggage will go to your destination airport with only one charge as long as you initially check in for your final destination. I've taken a bicycle on a Delta flight that connected to Paris in Amsterdam without any trouble.

That said, UPS might be less expensive, and I've found them very reliable for bicycle shipping. Link below. You'll have to determine both the box size and the total weight before you go to their site to determine cost. Most bike shops will give you a box. They usually break them down and send them to recycling.

Finally, I don't want to knock you bike, but brand new inexpensive cruisers can be purchased at most Walmarts for around $80 -- maybe less than it would cost you to ship this bike. They are large and heavy.

I just flew from Tokyo to Anchorage, Alaska for summer vacation. I took my road bike in my race case. I changed flights 3 times and was only charged one time. After I payed the fee for the first flight they gave me a coupon for the other airlines. On the way back It was the same story. The fee did differ between the airlines. I paid a 100 bucks in Tokyo on my way to Alaska. I only paid 50 bucks with Alaska airlines on my way back. Also, make sure the case/box weighs less than 23kgs or 50 lbs.

Depending on how long you are going to stay, you may want to rent a bike..

If you're on vacation - I'd simple rent a bike. If your moving you may simply want to sell it. I'm assuming your cruiser is $200-$400. As opposed to a $3000+ road or MTB bike.
