Can a body overwhelmed with stress lead to insomnia?

...or a decrease in sleep? Or trying to fall asleep?

Absolutely - When your stress level gets too high, your body can become exhausted but your mind cannot shut off. Best to see a medical professional in this case because one is more prone to accidents and illness when in this state.

it sure can. i have this ongoing problem for quite some time now and i force my self to sleep and will be lucky if i get at least 2 hrs. what i can say is do not find the remedy in over the counter sleeping pills or even those ones offered through tv. try everything else first. my case is a little severe so this didn't work for long. i'm not much of a work out kind of person. but i made myself run and do about an hour workout not too late into the evening and this would let me sleep like a baby.

    good luck

I would like to tell about a wonderful training a 3 days seminar (worth trying) which has enabled atleast 1000s of patients to regain health throughout the world suffering from M.E,Chronic Fatigue Syndrome,Fibromyalgia and many other symptoms like anxiety, insomnia, stress, overwhelmedness etc.The above 3 chronic illnesses have absolutely failed to be treated by medicines and alternative medicines making the patients restricted to bed, wheel chairs, isolation and severe pain. But this training has made difference in 3 days.I am the witness as I myself have regianed my belief in my health.I was having chronic illness (Chronic Fatigue Syndrome). No treatment worked at all rather my symptoms kept on deterriorating and worsening (severe weakness, severe hearing sensitivity, ear pains, musculo skeletal pain and constriction.Their website is www.lightningprocess.com. They have a fantastic and devoted team.

You can ask them about your particular problem areas and check what do they say. Their contact is 170 Weston Park, Crouch End, London. Phone no.020 8341 9800 .

Yes. I had several bad stressors that caused insomnia and depression, whichever one came first.

I would fall asleep instantly then be wide awake 2 to 4 hours later.

Stress can affect your body in so many different way (mostly negative). And this may lead to imbalances in one's life that affect all areas of life including sleep disturbances.

Try meditation, yoga or funny movies....these usually work for me.

    Good luck!

yes because you have so much on your mind, so you're worrying about that you can't clear your mind and fall asleep. if this is an issue you're facing, i'd suggest trying to unwind and relax a few hours before you go to bed. don't do anything too stimulating or anything that will remind you of your stresses. try to do things that keep your mind off these problems and try reading or something to distract and unwind yourself. this may make you fall asleep more easily.

Yes, to all 3 questions. Stress hormones interfere with sleep more effectively than caffeine.
