Margarine is the traditional answer. Although it seems it makes no difference between the two.

You might cut back the butter a bit. Here's an untried recipe for Lighter Apple Crisp. Let me know how it works out.

Apple Crisp - Light and Healthy

    4 cups apples, thinly sliced

    ⅓ cup sugar

    ¼ teaspoon cinnamon

    ½ cup oats, rolled (raw)

    3 tablespoons sugar

    2 tablespoons brown sugar

    2 tablespoons flour

    ½ teaspoon cinnamon

    2 tablespoons margarine

Heat oven to 350 degrees F. In 1-quart dish, combine apples with 1/3 cup

sugar and 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon. In small bowl, combine all topping

ingredients except margarine. Cut in margarine until crumbly. Sprinkle

evenly over apples. Bake covered at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Uncover

and bake 15 to 20 minutes or until apples are tender. Serve warm or cold.

    Refrigerate remaining dessert. Serves 6.
