It could mean many things, a cracked block, a blown head gasket, radiator leak, radiator hose leak. Best bet is take it to a mechanic to do a test under pressure to see where the water is going to.

Pressure test the system to see if there is any leaks. Change radiator cap and do a coolant flush and make sure they properly bleed the system of any air bubbles. Radiator Could possibly be clogged up with crap. Start off with the pressure test as well as the flush and since the car overheated again another thermostat and radiator cap. This should take care of the problem.

Most overheating problems occur because of a bad thermostat, blocked radiator or bad radiator fan components like fan clutch, fan motor, fan belt, fan switch.
