How can I find out the distance between countries?

I use a spreadsheet that does the same thing, but this site also calculates the great circle distance between two cities. I've looked up some obscure cities in Texas (I'm from Texas myself), and it does have the latitude and longitude. Just select the two cities and it does the math.

Edit: For everyone who suggested Google maps, you should try it first. "We could not calculate directions between australia and texas." Google Earth would work, but the link requires no download.

Edit: OR, if you don't want to do any of that yourself, the distance from the geographic center of Texas (31° 14.6' N, 99° 27.5' W) to the geographic center of NSW (23° 7' S, 132° 8' E) is 14867.9 km (9238.5 mi)

I strongly recommend it.

either use google maps..

or find a map, and a peice of string, place the string from one sity to the other then measure the length of that and then calculate using the scale on the map how far away the two cities are... if that makes any sense!

If you have a globe and a tailor's measure, just find the scale printed on the globe.

use google maps.. Just enter Texas as the starting place, and Australia as the destination
