U love playing the sims 2, but when im on it, im playing it for hours on end.
My brother use to have a laptop. In the end the battery just burned out. so is it made to be on for hours, as in 6 hours or no?

hi kelz
most laptops have specific battery running times, and these can be measured using a program called "mobilemark"(http://www.bapco.com/products/mobilemark2002/)
this will inform you on the safe period of time to run your laptop on battery power, however when used from the mains electric supply there should be no reason why you cannot run the laptop this way for 2,3 or even 4 hours at a time
however its not so much the stress on the battery but more to do with how to keep the components cool over this extended period
one excellent solution is the use of a "laptop cooler" which sits underneath the laptop and using a few built in fans this will keep the laptop nice and cool much in the same way as fans do in the desktop p.c,s
one such laptop cooler worth considering is the "aria Laptop Cooler with 3 FANS "(http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Laptops/Accesories/... just £9.34 inc. VAT thuis is a bargain and comes with 3 92mm fans and connects via a spare usb port on your laptop
so in reflection its keep the laptop cool and there should,nt be any problems, and also it may be a good idea to keep the vents on the laptop free of dust and dirt, you can use a can of "air duster" for this task and you can get air duster from http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Components/Fans%2C+...
i hope i have helped however any more problems let me know
good luck mate !

When I played the Sim 2 Deluxe (plus life story & teen style inside) my laptop just gets really loud & annoying...then shuts down! ****!
I have a HP Pavilion dv9000..it's not the HP that's the problem..just the inside machine thing
Macs are great for playing games and things but are too expensive
TIPS
When playing, if you have a tiny chair put it on the chair but don't cover the place where it breaths, my breathing hole for my laptop is on the upper left, so I just cover the right side and center and leave air for the left upper.
Turn off your laptop every night. Don't be lazy, it's not that hard really.
Unless it's a Dell, they take FOREVER to shut down and turn on!
Try NOT to drop your laptop
...that's all I got...good luck!
EDIT: Also wait when the battery thing goes to 100% and then take the plug in thing out! Don't leave it on too long, the screen's lighting will light up and dim down over and over and it will get annoying (also the battery will get damage)

If the laptop is plugged in you can on it for as long as you like and if I were playing games, I wouldn't want to be on battery power to begin with. Also for the sims game on a laptop, it would be a good idea to use the laptop version of the game, that was made exactly to be played on a laptop.

It depends on the battery, some last for hours, some dont. The Sims 2 uses a lot of power, I wouldn't recommend trusting any battery to last hours, but then again they do have the little meter. It will tell you, dont worry, you wont loose your data.

It depends how old it is. A laptop that is about 3-4 months old can last for about 2 hours. If you think it is gonna run out then plug it into the power.

if you are playing sims for 6 hours on one battery you are doing very well it will not damage it at all

if you know you are going to be on it for that long, just take out the battery and plug the charger in an outlet and the laptop and use it that way instead.

When i'm on mine i always have the mains plugged in. The batteries on these things don't last long.

well your battery probaly wont last more than 2 but if its plugged in you can leave that bad pig on probaly for a year straight and it will be ok
