Which restaurants are best for Thanksgiving in New York City?

We planned a trip to NYC for Thanksgiving, forgetting about the parade! But since we'll be there I think it would be fun to see. My two questions are:

1. Is there a good place to do brunch/breakfast where the parade will pass by? (I'm not dead-set on seeing the parade up too close or if it requires waiting in the cold for hours.)

2. Where is a great place to have "fancy" dinner on Thanksgiving?

Thanks!

Churrascaria Plataforma is in the Theatre district. It is a really neat place. They will bring you meat until you can't eat anymore. Steak, chicken, pork, seafood. It is a great place for a nice dinner with a medium sized group.

    Skip the parade.

    Good luck!

For Thanksgiving Dinner last year my wife and I went to Murals on 54 in the Warwick Hotel. Murals on 54 boasts a warm and elegant interior where fine art and history unfolds. Designed by Pierre Court, the concept of the dining room was to accentuate the historic murals painted by Dean Cornwell in 1937. The colours in the murals are radiant against the light background and natural light enters the room from the opening of the large, existing street-side windows, which creates the feel of an open terrace or a sun deck on an ocean liner.

Great brunch can be had at the Brooklyn Diner located 212 W 57th St, New York 10019. Do not make the same mistake we did. Do different days for each. We did both the same day and it was to much of a good thing.

Forget about breakfast or brunch with a view of the parade. If its a nice day, go to Central park West in the high 60's or low 70's (those are streets) for a good view. But go early, like at 7:00...

The best place for Tgiving dinner is right next to rockefeller center ice rink Rock Center Cafe...

Depends on what restaurants are open Thanksgiving night..For a fancy dinner you would probably want to go to a restaurant known for its meat ( so you can have a good turkey) so you may want to check out Smith and Wollensky, Ben Bensons, or Del Friscos..for the morning of the parade I would not know since most of the diners in the city have had to close due to skyrocketing rent ( especially in midtown and the upper E.) Best bet is to eat breakfast at your hotels resteraunt.
