Is there any programs for Alzheimers patients?

My mother has Alzheimer's and lives in an assisted living home. She barely makes too much for Medicaid. All of her savings are gone and we don't have the money to keep her in assisted living. Does anybody know where we can get ANY help? We live in NC.

Update:

I'm sorry. I didn't make myself clear. She's stage 6. She can't tolerate Arecept. NO, my main problem is financial. How do I keep her where she can get the care she needs. We both work and can't leave her here alone.

I'm sorry, my mother had Alzheimer's too. We had her live with us. Luckily I didn't have to work, but after 6 years it was tough. She had reached the point where she wanted to go home. Didn't know who I was anymore, fell a lot, luckily didn't break anything. Pooped her pants and wouldn't wear a diaper, peed on the edge of bed because she thought she was on the toilet. Had a potty chair right next to the bed too. She came down with a urinary tract infection and spent 2 months in a nursing home before she passed away.

erm... In your questions, you have two main problems. Am i right? financial and both of you are still work. You also don't have enough time to take care your mother..sometimes, i'm also in same condition with you. Because my grandmother has Alzheimer's. my advice, your mother should attend the class and learn creative tasks such as arts and crafts is another way to tap into the brain’s resources without tiring them out. Learning a new thing also gives people with Alzheimer’s the sense of purpose that they have lost since they were diagnosed with the disease. You can get more information from this site. With this site, it can help to cure your mother... i'm hopes that your mother become more better.

Absolutely. There is even a National Alzheimer's Help Organization and Pfizer makes Airicept, which she might be able to get FREE . Contact Pfizer. Go to their Website for starters. You should consider taking her under YOUR Wings.

My friend, I hope you get the answer you are looking for.

I am almost done listening to the audio book: Change your brain change your life, by Daniel G. Amen.

Please research it for your own knowledge on the new studies he has done about the brain. It is really a must have for you and your family.
