okay first, distribute your fraction
1-(3/4 times x)-(3/4 times -3 ) = 2
1 - 3x/4 + 9/4 = 2
(negative times a negative is a positive)
Mutiply the whole equation by 4 to get rid of the fractions
4(1 - 3x/4 + 9/4 = 2)
4 - 3x + 9 = 8
(the 4 cancelled out the demonimator (bottom fraction number))
add 3x
4 + 9 = 8 +3x
Simplify
13 = 8 +3x
subtract 8
5 = 3x
divide by 3
5/3 = x

Well first you distribute the -3/4 to the numbers in parenthesis.
for example you mulitply the -3/4 to the x and the -3 and then you end up with 1-3/4x+3/2=2.
Then add like terms (terms are numbers with no variable, like x or y, or any squares on the variables like x^2, x^3, etc.). So you take 1-3/2.
So you end up with 5/2-3/4x=2.
Then you subtrace the 5/2 to the other side of the equation. and you end up with -3/4x= -1/2.
Then you divide by -3/4 on both sides, it cancels on the x side and you end up with 1/24

1-3/4(x-3)=2 subtract 1 from both sides
-3/4(x-3)=2 multiply by -4/3
x-3=-8/3 add 3
x= -8/3+9/3
x=1/3

1 - 3/4x + 9/4 = 2
-3/4x = 2 - 1 - 9/4
-3/4x = 8/4 - 4/4 - 9/4
-3/4x = -5/4
x = -5/4 divided by -3/4
= -20/-12
= 5/3

1-3/4(x-3)=2
+3/4
1(x-3)=2 and 3/4
-1
(x-3)=1and 3/4
+3
x=4 and 3/4
You have to cancel everything out, and switch it over to teh other side until x is the only thing left on one side, andthats your answer>
