If the employer offers "family coverage," then they are all covered under the same policy for whatever premium the employer charges for "family coverage."
When covered through an employer group, the premium for 17 children wouldn't be any different than the premium for a family with 4 children.

Just like most companies, the company has employer-sponsored health insurance plans. So he probably pays a hundred or so a paycheck for health insurance premiums (btw, the same premiums as the people with only 1 or 2 kids).
Soapbox time.. Now, they talk about debt and how horrible it is... if (God forbid) any of their kids gets terribly sick and needs very specialized care, that's going to cost tens of thousands of dollars and they'll feel the pain financially too.
