Question about xbox vs ps3?

Okay....we have a little extra cash right now, and my hubby has been wanting the PS3 for so long I am sick of hearing about it. He only plays ONE game ever on his PS2, and that is Madden. It will be the same for the PS3 too, so I am having a hard time justifying spending $400 on the PS3 for ONE GAME! I know the Xbox is cheaper, but I have never played one so I don't know if its better or not. So tell me Y!A, if he is only ever going to play one game on his game system, should we get the Xbox or the PS3?

Thanks!

Update:

We won't be doing the online thing...we live in BFE & can only get dialup...if that matters. He will only be playing Madden on this, no online stuff.

    Hey,

You can get an XBOX 360 Arcade for $199. So if he is only going to play one game that is the system I would go with. He will also get a 256 MB memory card included with the XBOX 360 Arcade model

If he is ever going to start watching Blu-ray Movies then he should go with the PS3.

Personally I have a PS3 and use it for more than just one game, as well as a Blu ray player. The Xbox would obviously be a cheaper alternative for just Madden however he sounds quite adamant about wanting a PS3.

The PS3 is more expensive than the 360 because of its ability to play Blu-ray movies. It would be a good purchase if you plan to watch high definition movies in the future. The price of a Blu-ray player on the market is 250-300 cheapest for a good brand (Samsung, Sony, LG) and disks have dropped in price to roughly $20.

Other things you may want to consider are - what consoles his friends own, it's fun to play online with people you know. There is a monthly fee to play online for the Xbox vs the Playstation which is free. Although I believe there is a silver vs gold x-box live membership where silver is free but you can't play online.

You also mentioned that he has had a PS2 so he may like using that controller more. No matter what console you decide, I'd wait for Christmas / Boxing Day for any good deals!

Madden comes for both ps3 and 360. To be honest, the ps3 only has blue ray on the 360 so if its not about watching movies. the 360 is a overall buy. both run at 1080i-1080p features. and if he is looking to play online no competition xbox over ps3.

in the end result ps3 may be great until you buy it and realize that 360 was so much better and u can save a little extra money.

its a taste of choice and people like ps3's because not alot of ppl have them. but there is a reason for that... plus games are 10000 times better on 360.

360 all the way. but get him a ps3 if thats totally what he wants. if i asked for a turkey sandwich and my g.f brought me a salami.. id kinda be like ughhh i wanted a turkey .. lmao

I have both ps3 and a 360 now to be honest because the xbox is cheaper people think its of less quality well game wise the 360 is just as good almost exactly the same and if your hubby plays just a few games then its a no brainer get a 360
