In the book A Great and Terible Beauty, is the title tied back to the beauty of the gift or of pippa?

Is the title tied back to the fact that Gemma is plain (ish) and when inhabited with the gift she can do anything, be anything, and that makes her gift both beautiful and terrible at the same time, or the beauty of Pippa Cross and how terrible it is because....well, look where that gets her. Please only answer if you have read the book. Obviously. Cheers!

It has to do with Gemma's supernatural powers...nothing to do with actual physical appearances!

Source(s): I read the whole trilogy.

It's Gemma's gift. It's both beautiful and terrible. It's beautiful in that she can have what she wants, but it's terrible in that she harbors this amazing power that can potentially become lethal. Have you read the third book? That will show you the terrors of Gemma's power. The creatures of the realms eventually want Gemma's power.

And absolute power can corrupt absolutely.
