Getting around NYC...?

I will be staying at a hotel on 51st street, between 2nd and 3rd aves...how far would it be to walk to central park and time square? According to my map, everything looks close, but I know it's not drawn to scale.

Also, what are some recommended travel itineraries....I will be in NYC on a Thursday night through Tuesday morning. Thanks!

I suggest you can't miss New York City Tour on Tours4fun.com. You can take the chance to try good food in Chinatown, Manhattan before and after tour. That's what we did.

For breakfast, the average price is less than 5 dollars per person, and it is about $10 for dinner. We visited Statue of Liberty, Metropolitan Museum, Circle Line Cruise, SoHo Area Fifth Avenue, United Nations, Central Park, Lincoln Center, Time Square, 42nd Street, City Hall, Wall Street and Empire State Building.

This amazing trip is full of surprises!! We ended our one day tour with tasty food in Chinatown. Try spring rolls, dumplings, peaking duck or others for dinner; it depends on your own taste.

My friend, both Times Square and Central Park is roughly about 8 blocks from your location, you can get to either place by bus or subway.

Regard to thing to do and places to see while in town, may I recommend the following.

    Landmarks

    -Empire State Building

    -Statue of Liberty/Ellis Island

-Rockefeller Center and the Top of the Rock Observation Deck

-Times Square (no trip is complete without a visit to the"Crossroads of the World")

    -Broadway Show

    -Lower Manhattan/Wall Street Area

    -United Nations

    -Central Park

-Brooklyn Bridge (you can walk across it too)

-Grand Central Terminal (largest railroad terminal in the country)

-A Ride on the Staten Island Ferry (its free and you can see the Statue of Liberty as the ferry crosses the harbor)

-Sightseeing tour on a Double Decker Bus

-Conference House (scene of the only Peace Conference during the Revolution, Lord Howe versus John Adams and Ben Franklin)

    -Bronx Zoo/New York Botonical Garden

-Yankee Stadium (stadium tours are being conducted until the end of the year)

    Museums

-Museum Mile (Fifth Avenue from East 86 to East 103 Streets)

-Museum of Natural History and the Rose Center for Earth and Space (formerly the Hayden Platerium)

    -MoMa

    -New Museum of Contemporary Art

    -Madame Tussaud Wax Museum

    -Brooklyn Museum

    -Milk Gallery

    -American Craft Museum

    -Museum of American Folk Art

    -Museum of the Moving Image

-The Paley Center For Media (formerly the Museum of Television and Radio)

As a close-by New Yorker, i'd recommend paying for a MetroCard-it relatively is our bus and subway bypass. you need to purchase a a million day "relaxing bypass". Unforunately, they-new york city transit-would not sell relaxing passes for extra beneficial than a million day at a time, however the forged information is that in case you purchase one, you need to use all of it day with no need to spend extra to fill up it. i'd additionally recommend strongly getting bus, subway and directional maps so as which you would be able to get around; in spite of the fact that each and every person is prepared to be efficient, not each and every person is conscious their way around.

Follow what the others said, but remember the subway isn't as confusing as the map makes it look.
