No, the European banks and people were doing the same thing over there that we were doing over here. They had too many people buying houses and taking out loans that they could not repay same as over here. To put all of the blame on the United States is just ignorance. Even the government of Iceland said that it was the greed of it's own people borrowing twelve times its GNP that has put it's banking system in the position that it is in.

There should be another G8 conference of the richest nations in the world to discuss the economic crisis, free trade, and what can be done globally to stablize Wall Street and its equivalent in other countries? It does no good to blame anyone in particular. Is the United States still the richest country in the world? A lot of our corporations in the USA are owned by people from other nations.
Source(s): The news. I worked for a French owned company in Clearwater, Florida that is a very profitable company in the USA and worldwide but it is not on the New York Stock Exchange. Most people think that it is an American owned company when they buy the company's products. The French company bought out a very well-known, long standing American owned company but it was not a hostile takeover. Many foreign investors have bought out American companies because the company was going bankrupt. - MikeGolfLv 71 decade ago
Only the problems inside the US are our responsibility. The rest of the world should have been managing their affairs better.
And anyway - why should we feel sorry for them? They were leeching off of our economy and now are in trouble because of it!!

It does have some ties to the ill conceived regulations and poor oversight and corruption of our Congress that caused this whole mess.
