  • When do babies learn to avoid falling?

The twins are now entering the 'self propelled' stage and it seems like they are determined to take nose dives off the couch, bed, changing table etc.

Is there any way for me to teach a baby to avoid falling off of things or is this something the pick up on their own?

  • Question for people with babies and cats?

The twins look like they are going to start crawling any time now and I am trying to figure out how to put up a gate that will give the cats access to the kitchen and laundry room (the respective locations of the cat food and the litter box) while keeping the babies away from the same items. I have found a gate with a cat flap on Amazon but am not sure if it is really safe for small children.

Has anybody else had a similar problem and if so - how did you solve it?

  • Anybody had experience with ear splints?

My wife bought a set of 'Ear Buddies' splints for our 5 mo daughter. In theory these are supposed to gently move the ear to the proper shape without requiring surgery later on in life. (Note that this is being done for cosmetic reasons only.)

I have looked into it and am uncertain about whether or not they will do anything but am of the opinion that they 'can't hurt.'

Anybody have any expierence or advice on this?

  • When does the suffix 'Jr' apply?

We are expecting twins (one boy and one girl) and have decided to name the boy after my father. Since we will be using both the first and middle names - will the suffix 'jr' apply even if the name skips a generation?

  • How can I find the source of a leak in a vacuum oven?

At my plant we use a vacuum process to waterproof parts. One of our vacuum ovens has some sort of a slow leak and will not maintain a vacuum. Myself and my production manager have gone over the oven several times and cannot find the source of the leak.

Can anybody give me some tips on how to locate the source of a vacuum leak?

  • Does anybody know which fuse serves the radio in a 2005 Grand Cherokee?

The owner's manual does not identify which fuse serves the radio.

  • Anybody know the prognosis for hydrocephalus in an elderly female?

    Situation:

About three weeks ago my mother (who was in an extended-care facility) began showing signs of dementia and stopped eating.

She was placed in the facility because of degenerative disk disease.

On Friday she was taken to the hospital via ambulance due to her mental state (she no longer comprehends anything we say)and extreme weakness.

An MRI was performed on Monday and the neruologist diagnosed hydrocephalus. He stated that:

Without surgery she would only live a couple of months.

The existing brain damage is likely perminant

Due to her physical shape the surgery will be extremely risky

With or without the surgery she will likely have to have a feeding tube

Researching the condition on the Internet I noticed that the web-sites geared towards laymen tend to be more upmbeat but the references geared towards doctors indicate that the prognosis is grim.

Does anybody know what the 'real world' success rate for theis surgery is?

  • Anybody know of any trailer campsites in S. California?

We were planning on going to Obsevatory Campsite with my brother this weekend. The plan was for him to go today and claim two spots because the site is first-come first-served. However - he had to cancel yesterday because he has to attend a funeral.

Everything else is booked up and I cannot get out of work early tomorrow becaue I will be out on a business trip all next week.

Does anybody know of any decent trailer sites that are not likley to fill up by tomorrow evening? (I do not care if it has full hookups or is a primitive site.)

  • Looking for opinions on self-cleaning litter boxes?

My wife has tried to train the cats to use the toilet instead of a litter box and they are about ready to revolt and throw us out of the house.

What kind of luck have any of you had with self cleaning litter boxes? I have heard bad things about the Littermaid but the 'Cat Genie' and 'Litter Robot' look promising.

  • Military personnel only - what would happen to morale in your unit if we were forced to pull out of Iraq?

Would you be willing to risk your soldiers lives in battle again? Or would you feel that you cannot depend on the American people?

  • If somebody made you Chief Of Staff of the Army?

What 'pet peeve' would you change:

I would get rid of the beret and go back to the patrol cap (maybe keep the beret for Class A's.

Get rid of the requirement that everybody sing the 'Army Song.' (Most soldiers could not carry a tune with a forklift.)

Move the rank insignia on the ACUs back to the collars (thus avoiding many 'sexual harrassmant' complaints caused by soldiers trying to see what her rank is.)

Ban completely the subdued version of the 1st Infantry Division patch.

Make the Stetson authorized headgear for any soldier performing a 'cavalry' mission.

Well those are my personal 'pet peeves' - what are yours?
