What ended the last Depression?

Can we do whatever it was again (assuming that the cure wasn't WWII).

Update:

WWIII would definitely end the New Depression. Prolly not worth it though.

1).Regulations, 2). Work programs that put Americans back to work which eased unemployment drain, and increased taxes (even though taxes were used to create the jobs), and 3). Lower taxes for the working class.

Received wisdom says WW2, but in fact it was the manufacturing and jobs growth which the war stimulated which actually led to economic recovery.

The trick would be to stimulate economic growth without the need for artificial stimulation due to war needs.

I wonder if any of our politicians are smart enough to do it?

    Cheers :-)

Social programs. Now we could have Civic Currency made by citizens in hands of citizens plus green economy and no credit no speculation.

    Geothermal,wind power, solar power,electric power.

As to first speculation the cause.

what ended the last depression was mostly due to WW2 creating more jobs so on and so forth but how we started was the raise in taxes on the upper class tax breaks for the middle class more consumer spending the creation of jobs and the start of social security also more regulations on big corporations it is with in our reach but depending on what candidate wins and how they perform in the executive office will tell you the fate of our economic crisis

We had a depression in 1991 and I believe just letting the cold cure itself worked.
