    The translation needs correction:

When you go to the restaurant, what do you ask the waiter for?

Le --> Indirect object referring to 'waiter'.

    So your answer would be:

I ask HIM to bring the menu.

LE pido que traiga el menu.

En un restaurante, que le pides al mesero,

"le" refers to you. it doesn't stand for any noun, but for the subject which is implied in the question through "le"

The "le" refers to the waiter. What would you ask "to him".

You would answer the question by saying.

Le pido....( plus the food or beverages you'd like to order)

the le is an indirect object pronoun that stands for the waiter. another example of this would be..

Le doy un regalo (a Maria) - I give her a gift (Maria)

    1. le is like the, its kinda hard to explain - like what do you ask the waiter yourself (I Think- if im not mistaken) :)

u can answer it like this

cuando iba al restaurante, pedi (accented i) para los espeguetis y un ensalada, y despues (accented e) pedi(accented i) para helado.

When i go to the restaurant (Past tense) i ask for (the) spaghetti and a salad, and afterwards, i ask for ice cream.

lol i hope i helped!! sorry if i was wrong abt the le question!!!
