why does my usb cable not charge my cell ?

I have a palm centro and on my computer at home the sync cable will charge the phone , why wont it work on my pc at work ?

    It might be a low power port, or else the power management settings are causing it to go into a power saving mode.

    Because it is a work computer they may have it set up so that it won't recognize any devices on the usb drive
