Why do so few people realize Obama is going to raise taxes on everyone?

He says he will cut income tax for everyone. He is not telling everyone about the taxes he is going to raise. His policies are to raise taxes on gas, electricity, phone, airline, property, Estate, alcohol, tobacco, capital gains, insurance, corporate, employment, tariffs, carbon, media, etc... Obama is giving you a cut in Income while raising taxes on everything else. You will pay more for everything. He proposals will be a HUGE tax increase for everyone.

Update:

from Obama's website:

Provide Middle Class Americans Tax Relief

Obama and Biden will cut income taxes by $1,000 for working families to OFFSET the payroll tax they pay.

Under the Obama plan middle class families will see their taxes cut – and no family making less than $250,000 will see their taxes increase. The typical middle class family will receive well over $1,000 in tax relief under the Obama plan, and will pay tax rates that are 20% lower than they faced under President Reagan. According to the Tax Policy Center, the Obama plan provides three times as much tax relief for middle class families as the McCain plan.[60]

Families making more than $250,000 will pay either the same or lower tax rates than they paid in the 1990s. Obama will ask the wealthiest 2% of families to give back a portion of the tax cuts they have received over the past eight years to ensure we are restoring fairness and returning to fiscal responsibility. But no family will pay higher tax rates than they would have paid in the 1990s. In fact, dividend rates would be 39 percent lower than what President Bush proposed in his 2001 tax cut.[61]

Obama’s plan will cut taxes overall, reducing revenues to below the levels that prevailed under Ronald Reagan (less than 18.2 percent of GDP). The Obama tax plan is a net tax cut – his tax relief for middle class families is larger than the revenue raised by his tax changes for families over $250,000. Coupled with his commitment to cut unnecessary spending, Obama will pay for this tax relief while bringing down the budget deficit.[62]

Speaking in November 2006 to members of Wake Up Wal-Mart, a union-backed campaign group, Obama said: "You need to pay your workers enough that they can actually not only shop at Wal-Mart, but ultimately send their kids to college and save for retirement." His tax plan would bring in an additional $700 billion in taxes over the next 10 years.[63]

In The Audacity of Hope and the Blueprint for Change[64] Obama advocates responding to the "precarious budget situation" by eliminating "tax credits that have outlived their usefulness", closing corporate tax loopholes, and restoring the PAYGO policy that prohibits increases in federal spending without a way to compensate for the lost revenue

    Read up liar.

I am tired of hearing people say, Don't you want to support your country? Pay your taxes and a little more!!!! Government needs to be cleaned out. We pay enough to run this country already, its just that they OVERSPEND!!! There is no reason to raise the freakin taxes. Just quit blowing all the money we already have taken from us. That goes for Dems and Reps. Obama said he thinks someone making 250,000 is rich.(top 3or 4 %) Obama said he is raising taxes on the top 10% of this country. so if your household income is approx $95,000 (47k per spouse)you will be paying more taxes

We just spent 700 Billion Dollars, I don't see how anyone can say they are not going to raise some form of taxes to pay for that and what we normally spend in a year.

simple, because they are stupid and believe "trickle down theory" was some evil republican plot.

what they don't know, because they are stupid, is that "trickle down theory" was in fact a revival of the exact same economic policies that John Kennedy used to revive the economy.

Kennedy called it "a rising tide lifts all boats"

If Obama gets in he'll raise taxes on big corporations and the "rich" as defined by income.

what he doesn't tell the unwashed hordes chanting his name is that this is really a tax on them, how you ask?

do you really think Exxon-Mobile will give up it's profit margin?

if you do i have a bridge for sale, cheap.

they will pass the cost of that tax along to their consumers, the middle class and poor who buy from them.

so it will be the poor and those just above who pay for Obama's taxes and big government scheme.

Same deal with McCain only he has less grandiose plans and a better history on taxes.

    WOW

You must think everyone is stinking filthy rich

But you already know he won't raise taxes on EVERYONE

But you'll keep spewing the same BS

Lesson here my friend, the people are on to your BS.

If taxes are raised it will be raised to pay back the piss poor way the NEOCONS have destroyed our treasury.

You know that, I know that, and the American people are learning that.

    Peace

    Jim

nobody can know what he'll really do, as he hasn't specified anything in terms of a tax plan. he's only gone public against the super rich, those $250k and higher earners (definitely not me). too early to tell anything else he'll do, except that either candidate is going to need money to operate...it doesn't look good for the average taxpayer regardless of who becomes president.

Because he promised not to raise 'income taxes' and people do not realize the effect his increases on all of the things you mentioned will have on them.

No income tax increase, but taxes on everything else that you use. I think I'd rather see a small increase in income tax compared to the giant chunk his plans will take out of the household budget every month.

Best thing to do, keep him out of office, and get rid of Pelosi and her gang too!!!

Because most people are naive. We will ALL be paying higher taxes under Obama than we are right now once the Bush cuts expire. He can't just let part of them expire, it's all or nothing. He can introduce new legislation to cut some rates but there is no way he will cut them to level Bush did..

  • 1 decade ago

Because he said that he will cut taxes. I'm sure that he wouldn't tell us a story now would he?

    And your source is . . .

I'm going to take a line from the republicans.

Sounds like you've been drinking too much kool aid, McCainabot.

That's not his plan, do some research and stop spreading the fear tactics you've bit into hook, line, and sinker.
