Is Windows Vista ReadyBoost a useful tool?

Does the ReadyBoost system that allows you to use flash drives as rapid access virtual RAM on a Vista machine worth the effort of installing? Does it improve performance over conventional virtual RAM (swap file on the hard drive)?

    1. You don't "install" Ready Boost, it's a special kind of USB Flash Drive.

    2. Vista runs better with more RAM, so if you have less than 2 GB now, upgrade your RAM, FIRST.

    3. Ready Boost made little difference on my Vista box with 3 GB RAM. , so I wouldn't recommend using it.

    4. USB Flash Drives will "wear out" in no time when used as Virtual Memory, 10 thousand read - writes is the advertised life expectancy, not long on Vista, IMHO.

i haven't seen one yet yet i will share my experience. My computer has a center 2 Duo @ one million.seventy 3 Ghz, 1GB PC2 5300 Ram, and an intel GMA 950. Boot time and Restart time became into an entire minute slower for me and streaming on line track became into uneven while utilising readyboost. i flow to take the JumpDrive back to the save.
