Domestic partner med benefits tax deductible?

At my former job, I was actually able to enroll my opposite sex domestic partner whom I've been living with for over a years on my medical plan and her benefits came out after tax? The living status was notarized. Would these be tax deductible? She has not made more than $3000 this year, and I highly doubt will. I paid out quite a bit on her, so if they are indeed deductible, I would like to take advantage of it!

If she lived with you the entire year, you provided her support, and her income is as you stated, you can claim her as a dependent. Then her medical expenses would be deductible on your tax return as an itemized deduction on Schedule A, as long as they exceed 7.5% of your adjusted gross income.

The "domestic partner" status is not recognized for Federal tax purposes.

They would not be deductible for federal income tax purposes unless (1) she is your dependent, (2) you itemize, and (3) your total deductible medical expenses exceed a certain percentage of your income.

They might be deductible for state income tax purposes. For example, California treats "registered domestic partners" as married for tax purposes, even though the IRS does not.

relies upon on how long the two have been jointly yet i understand that in the event that they do enable this, then they might besides convey decrease back the regulation of you married in case you have lived jointly for 7 or extra years without certainly announcing or signing a marriage license If 2 human beings spend time jointly and have split their earnings and charges...I have no issues of it despite if it does throw out the full marriage element, which might throw the census out additionally and make the gov. mad if it may no longer get a correct account of all its human beings for the taxes So i assume...i'm a fence straddler in this problem and can be of no help
