Error downloading codec (video)?

I try to upload videos into my computer and every time I try to play them on Windows Media Player a message comes up telling me there was a failure in downloading the codec. The file name would be on the right-hand menu of the player instead there would be an orange exclamation mark on the name and it only plays the sound but not the video itself. I use the Samsung VLUU NV15. Is it a problem with my camera or is it a simple problem with the settings on my computer? And by the way, what is a codec?

Download KLMC (KazaLightMediaCodecs) from somewhere. Install it on your computer. It will solve the problem. Have my word.

You can download VLC here: http://bitly.com/Whvmoc

VLC (video lan connect) is a great open source software to play any types of video files. VLC has a built in dvd decodere and works with many different video and audio formats including OGG, MP2, MP3, MP4, DivX, HD codecs like AES3, Raw Dirac, and even support for playing back zipped files.

When the built-in media player doesn't work, use VLC. It's my favourite media player and I highly recommend it over any other audio/video player

Hi, you can try k-lite codec pack @ http://www.free-codecs.com/download/K_lite_codec_p... It's free & supports almost all popular codecs. Best of all you'll have the option of associating those codecs with Windows Media Player. Just make sure to check that during installation.

    Good luck.

To be able to play certain files with windows media player you have to install different codecs. You are not completely sure what a codec is.

Therefore I suggest to install Gomplayer. It is free and you do not have to install any codecs. Gomplayer does have them already.

All you do install the player. then go to

preferences -- others -- select all

    File Types -- Codec

Now you should be able to play your videos

there is something incorrect with the formats on your pc. you are able to obtain Divx or VLC participant. VLC participant is a magnificent participant and does not require any formats. it performs maximum video report formats.
