How to stop unwanted telemarketers.?

I have telemarketers calling me all the time, it gets really annoying and my question is: Is there any way to stop them from calling me?

Update:

I just registered my phone, at says, within another 31 days they should stop calling, it is possible for it to be faster, and what if you give them your phone on the internet, as in you registering in a site, offers (PrizeRebel, Rewards1, and etc.) WIll that still stop if, because i don't know if they hold a claim allowing them to call me.

Update 2:

New question about the same subject: I put my number on an offer for Rewards1 not too long ago, and i clicked on the ''agree to the terms or w/e''(not the terms for the rewards site, the terms of agreement for the offer site'' if i checked that box, do they hold some kind of claim or contract saying that can call me even though i registered to 'Do not call'?

change your number, that's what my mom had to do. It won't solve the problem forever, but it will keep them at bay until you can find another way.

In Canada, a do not call list was just posted.

And, its site and its lines crashed the first day, as the whole country logged on!

They should have cut them off everybody, and then posted a Please Call Me list to sign ONTO!

Things I have done in the past:

When the phone rings, pick up but do not speak. The switch over to an operator is voice-activated, so just leaving your line off without going to your mail wastes their time till they hang up (and sometimes, hopefully, discard your number as unreachable).

Pick up the phone and hit the # sign several times, this is supposed to cut them off.

Answer, tell them you are not interested thank you very much, and you are hereby requesting that your number be stricken from their list. They may lie and say they have done so, but they are supposed to delete it if specifically told to.

When you get a postage-paid return envelope, stuff it with other unsolicited flyers and ads (the example I saw suggested taping it to a phone book, but who has dozens of those to spare?) cause it will cost them a lot more to pay the extra postage, and if everyone did it they might give up

Absolutely! Like #1 said, register with the National Do Not Call List. Be advised it takes 30 days (or so) to take affect, but it WILL put a stop to it. In the meantime, you can control what calls you take by looking at your caller ID before you answer. I don't answer ANY calls that say Out of Area w/no number I recognize, Private Caller or Unavailable. If they don't want to identify themselves to me up front, I'm not gonna be available to them. All those calls get picked up by my answering machine, and get erased later.

Based on what you said in your Additional Details that got added AFTER I posted........I think that if you give someone your number, such as an internet site like you mentioned, they may have a "loophole" for calling you.

It's not wise to give your number out to ANYBODY you don't want calling you.

Pretend you're completely crazy, start coughing uproariously, and laughing in a really affected way during the call for no reason.

Start telling them that all fish are spying on you.

Get THEM to hang up on YOU.

Start asking them weird questions. if they ask "are you interested in taking a cruise" you reply "are you?" if they say you name wrong like "is so and so available" you say "sorry, this is the do and so residence, and hang up" if they ask "how are you" start listing every problem you have like " i hate pickles my stomach hurts i am lonely why aren't your responding!"

or you could just ask for them to take you off their call list..... but you wont have as much fun! =p

There might desire to be a nationwide donot call checklist, on your state. there is one for California. placed all your telephone numbers on it, abode telephone, cellular telephone and any others. it extremely is unlawful for telemarketers to call numbers that are in the variety of checklist.

Register on the national "do not call" list. They are supposed to stop calling you then. Worked for me. https://www.donotcall.gov/

Yes totally! When they call back next time, tell them and quote! " Put me on your do-not call list". And I'm 99 % positive if they call back its illegal.

Source(s): I have done it before and they don't call back.

Answer when they call and say "Will you please put me on your Do Not Call list?"

    They should agree to.

And if they keep calling you, ask to talk to the manager.

    Then they shut up.
