Why do we really need a diffrent healthcare plan?

When the USA provides some of the best quallity healthcare on the planet. Wouldn't socialized medicine deminish our healthcares quality by taking competition out of the medical market place?

USA may provide some of the best quality health care on the planet but that health care is only for the insured or those who can pay. I didn't think it was possible for it to be done but when I was diagnosed with MS which has now gone into secondary progressive stage, a health insurance canceled my coverage. I am uninsurable now due to a preexisting condition. Since college, for years I worked hard not to be in this position but am anyway. Some may just say "tuff" but I can't afford $500 for insurance with a 20% deductible. That's what competition of our good ole competitive medical market place has done for more than just me.

The United States system is no better that the French and German systems.

The French system is rated as the best in the world by the WHO and is a single payer system much like Canada.

Germany has an excellent system but it is not a single payer system, They have insurance companies just like us but the big difference is that the company is not allow to deny coverage due to preexisting conditions as we do.

That being said, there is no reason to believe that the American system would be suffer.

And competition has not achieved its goal of lowering prices in heath care. The problem is that we spend considerably more per person in the U.S. as do others and get less for our money, leaving many uninsured.

The uninsured end up costing us more money due to medical bills quickly bankrupting most people and leaving the bill for the tax paper in the form of tax subsidies to the industry.

And cost are spiraling out of control. For example, my policy increased by 40% in once year. To try and control the cost I have increased the deductible to $5000.00 which effectively keeps me from getting preventative care which costs more in the long run.

To answer your question. Yes we do or we need major changes in the one we have. It works fine for those fortunate enough to have good employer plans but for the self-employed retired people, it is a broken system.

We need different healthcare because the majority of the sick people are not being covered. When you have a pre-existing disease you cant get health insurance. In England, France, Canada, Cuba and other countries people get health care for free and medication at little to no cost. Americans have lower life spans than people of those countries. Don't you think its odd that we taxpayers pay so much to the government and we still dont get quality health care. We cant get certain surgeries because we dont have the money for it. Do people do that in England?? Of course not. They go to the emergency room, get treated and dont have to worry about a bill on their backs. I think America has many great things, but we dont have the greatest health care system in the world. I know people who go from Milwaukee to Canada just to get health care. That is sad when we as Americans go to other countries and look for handouts. Its time for a change..

The questions isn't about the quality. It is about the availability. There are some 40 million plus people with health insurance in this country. And it makes them have to utilize emergency rooms for routine health care instead of getting preventative care from general practice physicians.

Competition does not mean higher quality. What needs to be done to improve health care is to stop making it a profit-motivated industry. Sickness and health should not be endeavors to make a profit.

That best quality health care is growing in price.

As it grows in price, more and more people fail to be able to afford it.

THe cost of health care is the cause of many employers dropping their employee health care programs.

The higher it gets, the more people are going to find themselves unable to pay for health care.

So we can either keep the welfare health care program(like medicaid mentioned above) and pay more for the ER for every non emergency doctor visit, or we can reorganize to benefit every individual and every business.

As more and more people lose their health care policies, that means a higher rate of contact with people that are carrying untreated infections.

And universal health care isn't socialized medicine.

Socialized medicien is where the government takes control of the medical industry, and completely dictates price and service. Subsidizing health insurance provided by private businesses isn't socialized medicine.

We can either make it more efficient, or we can continue the current wastefulness of our current program.

The current health care system has its negatives and positives. To truly make progress on the issue it needs to be either privatized entirely or socialized. That's where the two parties stand knowing that the program at work now is not the best we can do.

We don't. Michael Moore didn't tell people that Canada sends its sickest patients to America for treatment.

Along with having great doctors, America has the most advanced medical devices in the world.

What we need to do is deport the foreigners who are here illegally. They make up the bulk of the people that are listed as uninsured, and they drive up everyone's healthcare costs since they don't pay their hospital bills. Currently there are an estimated 32 million illegal immigrants in America (32 million is the latest figure)

We don't. We just need to fix it.

Here's how I feel; Obama's business plan to force all businesses to carry insurance for their employees will cost the businesses more, they'll cut jobs and the uneployment rate goes up.

McCain's will force everyone to go look for their own insurance (with gov money) if they don't like what their business has.

I LEAN more towards McCain, but I think we should leave health care alone, or at the VERY MOST revise what we already have.

You are living in fantasy land. Our government spends more per capita on healthcare than any other country, healthcare costs more per person than anywhere in the industrial world, yet we are below other countries with regards to life expectancy and infant mortality. Here's the simple reason why we need a different plan: 18,000 people die every year due to being uninsured.

The "Medical marketplace" shouldn't exist in the first place.

Doctors should help people, end of story.

People going broke to pay thier kids' medical bills in unacceptable.
