one of my smoke detectors started chirping and I changed the battery and it quit chirping.

I have noticed that it still sometimes blinks red - I thought they should be green only light when battery is good??

also all the others seem to blink red also periodically.

The detectors that I have (Firex) glow green constantly when connected to AC, then blink red once every 60 seconds to show that there is a battery installed and the voltage is OK. Hope this helps.

    Flashing Smoke Detector

Check the mfgr of the smoke detector's website. I have a fairly new house (4 yrs) and my smoke detectors start doing the low batt beep every month now. It has been doin it for the last year. Every month I change the batteries. It sucks so tomorrow I am going to call customer svc to see what they say.

they are supposed to blink red. ours do anyway. its probably just the type of smoke alarm...some blink red and some blink green. some probably blink blue if they really wanted to. are your smoke alarms hooked up to main power?

Well if there is the option to test it, try that. If not, you will notice its batteries are dead if it keeps beeping! Like in the middle of the night you will here a beep, that means it is dead. But make sure to handle this ASAP, because in any house, they can be a life saver!
