Is the exact postage amount required to mail items successfully?

Hi I need to send some DVDs through the post, I have found online that the postage cost for each of my items given their weight/size etc is 78p. I have a load of 1st class stamps at home, does anyone know if I can use 3 of these ( 3 would amount to £1.08- which is more than the required postage) or do I have to put the exact postage on the items. I have spent ages looking for an answer to this online with no luck, if you feel you can offer me some advice on this matter I would be very glad to hear it, many thanks.

You don't have to put the exact amount: if you put more it'll still be delivered fine (though of course I doubt you'll get any kind of refund of the difference), if you don't put enough then the person you send it to will have to pay the difference.

It's not a scam, it's Royal Mail asking you for the money not any particular company. However as somebody else said if it's that important the company will re-send it to you. Any company worth their salt will have made sure the postage was correct in the first place. Also as mentioned by others you can look at the unopened item before deciding whether or not to pay.

3 first class stamps should suffice, providing info found from on-line is correct.

Suggest you take one packet, with amount to local PO. just to check .
