Monitor says "Frequency Out Of Range" and blacks out.?

I changed my resolution settings, and restarted the pc as it prompted me to do, but after it boots the monitor goes black and the only thing it does is flash a little window, saying "Frequency out of range, change it to 60Hz" or something like that.

Is there a way to change the resolution back somehow? It worked fine before, but now I can't do a thing with it.. please help!

Oh, I have Windows xp! I don't know what other info you may need... ^^

Update:

@ Tizio 008: I tried entering safe mode, but the monitor still shows nothing. :( I know, stupid me, I should have been more careful.

starting windows in "safe mode" and changing your video settings back should work.

next time check the freqs your monitor supports before switching to strange "resolutions"!

what's happened is you've increased your resolution without decreasing your refresh rate

as you increase the resolution your monitor can only support a lower refresh rate so to put it right start in safe mode by rebooting and pressing the F8 key before the windows loading logo appears use the cursor keys to move the highlighted text up or down highlight safe mode and hit enter when windows has loaded your fresh rate and resolution will be at minimum now right click on a blank area of the desktop and click properties click the setting tab and change the resolution back to what it was or click the advanced button click the monitor tab and change the refresh rate but don't go below 70hz as the monitor will flicker and give you head aches
