    In addition to what Bob F said, if your only income is from social security, you won't owe any income tax.

    If you are single, you can make $10250 in 2008 if over 65.

    If you are married, you can both make a total of $19900 in 2008 if both are over 65.

    You will still probably have to pay some to your state.

    Same as everybody else. Except I think you also get an extra age allowance.

    If you are a single, your exemption deduction is $3500 and standard deduction is $6800. So your deduction are $$10,300.
