Shipping in a flat-rate box with another method?

I have a ton of flat-rate boxes at my home. I'm selling items on eBay and it would be cheaper for the buyer (and more advantageous to me!) if I shipped the item another way other than priority mail. Will the post office allow me to ship something in that flat-rate box although I'm sending it another method??

'fraid not. Even if it has already been used, turned inside out and covered in brown paper it might get spotted and refused, returned to you, or the person on the other end charged the difference between normal and Priority rates. Apparently it's against a federal law to use a USPSPriority box/envelope when posting a USPS non-Priority method!

Nope. They gave you the free boxes so that you would use the more expensive service.
