Is this an infection?

My ear hurts when I touch it. I thought maybe I had scratched it with a nail but it is still tender to the touch. I think it might be a little swollen on the inside. Help please. A little over a month ago I went to the emergency room due to the fact that I couldnt hear out of it. It was packed with wax and they cleaned it out with warm water. Could this have contributed to an infection?

Sounds like an outer ear infection. You could have scratched it and its infected. Go the the doctor and he'll probaly give you ear drops to clear it up.

You may have overactive ear wax production...as far as getting an infection from treatment over a month ago is highly unlikely.

Are any glands around your ear swollen or tender?

    Ear infection signs and symptoms:

    Pain, throbbing or aching

    Reduced hearing

    Nausea and vomiting

    Dizziness or loss of balance

Discharge or bleeding from the ears

Do you clean your ears out when you shower, bathe ? you shouldn't put anything in them but, there are separate problems like your that have an undue amount of wax that needs cleaning. Put a little warm water in the ear and let it sit for awhile then try and clean it.
