An atom of beryllium (Be) has 4 protons. How many electrons must it have if it has a net charge of 0?
c 4 (protons have a positive charge and electrons have a negative charge so they cancel each other out)

They differ Atoms exists in a range of different masses these are called isotopes Carbon 12 has 6 protons and 6 neutrons Carbon 13 has 6 protons and 7 neurons Carbon 14 has 6 protons and 8 neutrons So sometimes the number of protons= the neutron number but this is not always the case. The number of protons in a nucleus of an element stays the same what differs is the number of neutrons
