Would the Islamic authority in Dubai be better to sort out their own house before imprisoning tourists?

for having sex on the beach?

Like this for instance,

Update:

Perhaps I should have worded this differently and talked about the hypocrisy of the Islamic state. I had no idea links were not allowed. I'll live with the consequences - hopefully they will not come from Dubai.

This is exactly why I will not visit countries that are essentially ruled by religious dogma. Links are allowed, don't worry about it.

Well, this isn't answering the question, but I wanted the to say to the others who replied to read a bit more of the backround to the story. In Dubai, it is illegal to touch, hug, or kiss anyone in public (this is classed as indecency, even if your married). It is also illegal to have sex with someone who isn't your wife (regardless of being in public or not). Being drunk is also illegal.

Tests done at the time of arrest proved the woman had NOT had sex recently, and the judge accepted this, if found guilty they could have faced 2 years for all the charges. They were however guilty of kissing, hugging, and being drunk, in public. Therefore under the laws there they were sentanced to 3 months not 2 years.

The media made such a fuss about it that the judge felt he had to set an example, had the story been ignored they might not have been jailed.

Who would go to an Islamic country and have sex on a beach? I hate to say it but what did they expect?!

However your link was about boys being used in the sport of camel racing.

In all fairness, I agree with you that this is way crazy. But I wouldn't go to a Muslim country and do what they did. Unless we've been living under a rock, we know that they are very sexually strict.

I'm surprised most that they have not been saved from imprisonment by diplomatic means.

If you visit an islamic country you should respect their laws. Public sex isn't allowed in any country so why are you picking on Dubai?

I mean - be fair! Shagging on the beach (or anywhere else) in full view of anyone and everyone is an offence in virtually every country in the world!

Can't even take all your kit off on a beach in the USA let alone engage in sexual intercourse. ( or enjoy a glass of wine with your beach picnic in most states).

    Don't be so bloody hypocritical!

40 years ago Dubai was a village in a desert. There is nothing natural about Dubai. Nothing. Why would anybody want to go to that hell hole.

They were made an example of

Personally though I think they deserved it, They knew the rules and customs and thought they were better than that.

They were given a warning which they ignored, the second time the woman threatened the officer with her shoe
