Nike - the goddess of victory or an Oregon shoe company.

Midas Tires (Trust the Midas touch!) I never understood that because if King Midas touched you - you'd turn into a lump of gold!

Mobil gas stations used Pegasus as their symbol

The FTD Florist has Hermes/Mercury, the wing-footed messenger of the gods as their symbol of swift service.

A Trojan Horse - a ruse to fool someone.

Sadly - The swastika is a Norse/ancient European symbol before the Nazis got ahold of it. I believe that a "reverse" swastika (points go counter-clockwise?) was a part of some American Indian cultures.

A beautiful woman might be referred to as a Venus or an Aphrodite.

If you 're given an impossible job to do - people might refer to it as being like one of the the 12 Labors of Heracles.

The pentagram (Nirvana Smells like Teen Spirit video among a zillion others) - symbol of Wicca that has been co-opted by today's anarchist youth movement.

The Ankh, an ancient Egyptian symbol of life used as attractive jewelry.

Peacocks - symbol of Hera used as a symbol of vanity and jealousy in painting of Romanticists.

The Trident, the symbol of Neptune/Poseidon is used in lots of water-related industries -- example Trident Seafoods.

    The Sun symbol of Apollo,

The Moon - symbol of his sister Diana.

Look up the Order of the Masons/Masonic Lodges - they uses lots of symbols - the All-Seeing Eye for one. I think it was summerian or assyrian and then taken up by the Romans.

Look at US money -- we've got masonic symbols all over our currency and they go back to the Ancients.

Look at US architecture = our Supreme Court, the House, the Senate are modeled on ancient Greek and Roman temples of worship.

The caduceus (staff with inter-twined winged snakes) is the herald's wand of Hermes/Mercury - used as a symbol of medicine.

Atlas - a book that shows maps of the world (which Atlas holds on his shoulders).

    Good Luck!!

Jings this question's been asked a lot lately.

Here in Australia, we have a dip manufacturing company called Poseidon. And if you go to www.interflora.com (an international florist), their symbol is Hermes/Mercury.
