Can someone explain Barack Obama's joke about the Waldorf Astoria and the Russian Tea Room?

It is his shot at Sarah Palin for saying she could see Russia from her front door in Alaska...

There's a restaurant here in NYC called The Russian Team Room; it is not too far from the Waldorf Astoria. It's supposed to be a twist on Palin's remark that she can see Russia from Alaska.

It was a joke referring to Palin saying she can see Russia from Alaska.
