    Try http://www.petfinder.com/ . There are loads of shelters and rescue groups within 100 miles that may work for you.

    Also, don't forget breed rescue groups that may not be listed on petfinder: http://www.akc.org/breeds/rescue.cfm

    I have no idea what you mean by a reliable shelter. Go to www.petfinder.com and look for the type of dog you want and put in your area. The shelters in your area will come up.
