What Happened To Biology?

I've been answering questions on the Women's Health topic and I'm shocked by the amount of teenagers who don't know the mechanics of reproduction. That's basic biology, stuff I knew at 11. Have they stopped teaching it? If so, why?

The problem is that they don't teach it _as biology_. They teach biology, and they teach "sex education", and nobody ever points out that it isn't good morals that stop you getting pregnant, it's understanding that what you need to do is stop sperm reaching egg.

Source(s): My daughter goes to a school which doesn't do this. At 11 they study reproduction. This is how flowers reproduce, this is how frogs reproduce, this is how humans reproduce. Oh, by the way, you're human - so this is how you avoid reproducing until you are ready.

They teach reporduction facts in health in my school. But even then, the only reason I know about it is beacuse my cousians always talk about it in front of me. In health they just teach just like body parts, and why you shouldn't do stuff underage and all that. The fact is, if it was in my biology class I WOULD pay attention, but its SO boring in health because their cramming random facts into our head. Like it was first 'the dangers of drinking' then suddenly we're on 'how to say no to drugs', and then 'why you should stay active'. Its all randomly taught, so I barely ever pay attention. Thats why a lot of people don't know a lot about stuff like reproduction.
