Will Christmas spending get the economy flowing a little better?

Will Americas Christmas spending give some money flow to big and small businesses just enough for them to start hiring again? Just enough to give the economy a little jump start to recovery.

People will probably spend less than they have in a long time on holiday shopping. Don't count on it.

People are spending less on non-necessities, and I don't think the holidays will be any exception. Buying Christmas gifts is not a necessity. I always bargain shop for Christmas gifts, aiming for a "value" around $20-30 for most but spending usually around $10, sometimes less. It's the thought that counts, not the amount of money spent. I think more people will start to realize that this year.

Probably not, predictions are that this will be the worst spending year ever because everyone is scared. A lot of companies completely rely on what they bring in from Christmas to get them through the rest of the year. After Christmas will be when companies really start to see the effects, and then we will too.

I am sorry to say but I don't think so. People are so afraid to spend money right now with the way the economy is today. You just don't know what will happen in the next few days. It is sad to say but it will take a very big miracle to pull this one off.

It will help, but something else has to change as well.
