What effect does adding an iodine stain have on onion cells?

    Well, if there is starch in the onion,... or sugar, the iodine would become Dark Blue, if there isn't., the iodine will remain pale brown,.....

    When you put a onion cell below a microscope you can't see it because the onion cell is see-through. So when you put iodine on it you will be able to see the cell more clearly.

    I think Iodine changes color only for starch

    no effect- it just helps to make the cells more visible
