    as you know, no of valence e-s = group no

    hence

    electropositive elements:

    G1=lose1e

    G2=lose2e

    G3=lose3e

    ectronegative elements:

    G4=gain4e (ionic bond is rare bz no of es needed is too much)

    G5=gain3

    G6=gain2

    G7=gain1

    G8 already has 8e-s.
