Fire is a mixure of a combustable gas (either the fuel or given off by the fuel) and oxygen in the process of chemically reacting. The reaction (oxidation) is what produces the heat and light associated with fire.

If the fire is sufficiently hot there can be a population of free electrons in the mix too, making it a weakly ionized plasma.

Fire is the Great Equalizer, according to Louis Farrakan. We'll see next month, I guess.
