Yes, rather silly question lol. For a start it would really depend on where in the word you came from. African nations would say South Africa, Middle Eastern nations would say Saudia Arabia and the majority of the rest would say Australia (genrally speaking of coarse) - and let us ignore the New York comment lol.
However if put other nations such as England, Germany, USA, Russia or any other notable country they would top the chart.

Well, for one, New York isn't a country.
I suppose the most "well-known" countries are the ones where historical events took place, such as wars.
