Like with the Atlanta Silverbacks: http://www.atlantasilverbacks.com/ On the bottom left of the screen they list two international clubs that are affiliated with the Silverbacks.

What do you mean by "International Clubs"? Because Football clubs are technically international.
If what you mean is "National Team" affiliating with Football clubs, there are tons of reasons. One of them is to monitor their own player's performance. Others would be keeping an eye on prospects to bring into their own football club.
