I'm having Playstation 3 optical audio problems?
I've got my video going straight to my TV via HDMI cable, but I'm using an optical cable into my reciever for the audio. This works okay for my Batman Begins BD, but when I put in my Simpsons PS3 game, I get no sound, and the only way to get audio is to shut off my optical and use my TV stereo speakers with the HDMI cable, I know this can't be right, so what am I doing wrong?
I don't see a place to turn the HDMI audio off? Under audio it only gives me the option to turn on HDMI, optical audio, or audio av input. When I play BD movies it uses both, but when I play a game I get no sound from the optical.

For some reason, the PS3 is unable to output audio over both HDMI and any other cable at the same time.
Go into the PS3's menu, and under the audio settings is an option to turn OFF HDMI audio. You'll need to do this in order to get audio to be sent over the optical audio connection.
The PS3 is the ONLY device I've encountered that has this lame limitation. My upscaling DVD player, satellite DVR, and Xbox 360 all have no problems outputting audio on the HDMI cable AND optical audio cable simultaneously. It was only by dumb luck that I stumbled upon this "feature" of the PS3, else I'd be up here posting the exact same question.
