What can you tell me about Earmarks/Pork?
I'm looking for any legit info. or an ebook about the use of earmarks in the united states, facts about earmarks, reasons for which they are good or bad for our economy, and maybe some alternatives to prevent their use in our government.
If you know anything about any of these, please answer here. I'll also need references to confirm that what your saying is accurate.

The Pig Book breaks down every senator from every state's Earmarks. Also tells you what an earmark is etc etc.

Earmarks account for less than 5% of the total US budget. While they are certainly disreputable, they have little to do with the current problems in our economy. In fact, by stimulating spending in a particular state, they are improving the economy in that area. Earmarks concentrate federal tax dollars in specific states, which is bad for the country as a whole, but good for the state that receives them. For that reason, all politicians try to secure earmarks for their own state.
