What can you tell me about Earmarks/Pork?
I'm looking for any legit info. or an ebook about the use of earmarks in the united states, facts about earmarks, reasons for which they are good or bad for our economy, and maybe some alternatives to prevent their use in our government.
If you know anything about any of these, please answer here. I'll also need references to confirm that what your saying is accurate.

I don't have any references, but earmarks are a way for local spending to get inserted into a national bill. The congress-person makes a deal with the bill writers, typically to vote for the bill if the earmark is inserted.
Advantage - it gets local things done, like funding for schools
Disadvantage - increased spending at the federal level
Even though there's a lot of talk about it, I don't think it will be prohibited - It too common of a way to get things done.
Think of it as when you go to the store, and someone else says "Oh could you also get this and that?" It's annoying, but an efficient way of doing things.

Adventures in Porkland was a book written by Brian Kelly in 1994 on the subject. You can find it on Amazon.com. I think it would be useful to you.
