Does anyone know John George Edington?

I am looking for a gentleman I believe is my paternal grandfather. My grandmother was Dorothy Aurelia Winifred Nelmes and she bore him at least one son - in India in 1943.

As far as I am aware, he also had a son who was named Ian.

If you think you can help, please let me have an email address so I can contact you.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Update:

I know they returned to England in 1943 - I believe the family in the North of England somewhere. I would just like to learn a bit more about this branch of my family.

As a rule, people didn't stay in India forever, particularly after the Country became independent and the racial problems/partition.

Is it likely that John/Ian left and to which Country would they have gone?

Ian is a first name favoured by Scots, and there are quite a few Edingtons there, listed on the Electoral Roll. Is this a possible present location for the Clan?

If you are in the UK, you could try www.192.com to see if there are any people with that name having a phone number.r

If you know the location in India, then you could ask the local Registry Office for information.

At the same time you could try to contact the former Colonial Office (maybe now the Foreign Office) to get more details from your relative.

    Good luck!
