Should you always tell the truth?

A fellow came to a house with a red light burning in front, so he stepped inside. There was no one in sight and nothing there but an empty bare hallway, with two doors reading "Over 35" and "Under 35." He decided to be truthful and entered the door that said "Over 35."

He found himself in another empty hallway, this one with two doors that read, "Over 8 inches" and "Under 8 inches."

Truthful again, he went through the "Under 8 inches" door and found himself in another empty hall, with two more doors reading, "Once a night" and "Over 4 times a night."

Still wanting to be truthful, he entered the door marked "Once a night" and found himself back out on the street.

The moral of this story is, "Always tell the truth and you'll never get screwed."...xxx

Telling the truth has me living on the street apparently.

    sigh.

Yet it is the only thing I can do.

(best chuckle I had all day, thanks!)

A police officer pulls a guy over for speeding and has the following exchange:

Officer: May I see your driver's license?

Driver: I don't have one. I had it suspended when I got my 5th DUI.

Officer: May I see the owner's card for this vehicle?

Driver: It's not my car. I stole it.

    Officer: The car is stolen?

Driver: That's right. But come to think of it, I think I saw the owner's card in the glove box when I was putting my gun in there.

Officer: There's a gun in the glove box?

Driver: Yes sir. That's where I put it after I shot and killed the woman who owns this car and stuffed her in the trunk.

Officer: There's a BODY in the TRUNK?!?!?

    Driver: Yes, sir.

Hearing this, the officer immediately called his captain.

The car was quickly surrounded by police, and the captain approached the driver to handle the tense situation:

Captain: Sir, can I see your license?

    Driver: Sure. Here it is.

    It was valid.

    Captain: Who's car is this?

Driver: It's mine, officer. Here's the owner' card.

    The driver owned the car.

Captain: Could you slowly open your glove box so I can see if there's a gun in it?

Driver: Yes, sir, but there's no gun in it.

Sure enough, there was nothing in the glove box.

Captain: Would you mind opening your trunk? I was told you said there's a body in it.

    Driver: No problem.

    Trunk is opened; no body.

Captain: I don't understand it. The officer who stopped you said you told him you didn't have a license, stole the car, had a gun in the glovebox, and that there was a dead body in the trunk.

Driver: Yeah, I'll bet the liar told you I was speeding, too

Telling the Truth is a very good way to go through life not having to worry about what version you told this person versus someone else. No one ever said the truth doesn't hurt. Some people can't handle the truth, but at least its honesty and you have to respect that.

What if he was under 35 and over 8 inches what would have happened then?

If we lived in a black and white world then telling the truth would be the best answer but as we don't, occasionally it is appropriate to tell the odd white lie as long as it won't hurt anybody.

    Hahaha good one.

I was going to say something about always ALWAYS tell her the truth, and never NEVER lie, unless within 5mtrs of any dress shop change room...then lie like a trooper.

Some times you tell the truth you get nothing.

Some times you lie you get nothing.

So what can you do. You just have to make the right decision at the right time. just to get what you want.

I go with the Happy Mondays pop group who said "you used to tell the truth but now you're liar - you used to tell the truth but now you're clever"

    Yes you should.

Always, there's always a nice way to tell someone the truth' you just have to chose a way to word it.

well it depends what situation you are in...

like mostly you should tell the truth

but if you make up a lie and it ends up making someone

happy...and its not a so much harmeful lie.

Then i guesss that its alrite
